Problem Statement
How can Harald Nyborg create value through the development of a new digital concept with a focus on crisis management and emergency preparedness?
Context & Opportunity
Growing public awareness around emergency preparedness has created new expectations for retailers that provide practical household equipment. Many households are unsure how to properly prepare for crisis situations and often lack structured guidance when selecting relevant products. This uncertainty creates hesitation and prevents users from taking action.
Harald Nyborg is uniquely positioned to support customers in building confidence through preparedness. By transforming emergency planning into a guided digital experience, the company can create meaningful customer value while strengthening its strategic digital presence.
Concept Proposal
The proposed solution is an Emergency Preparedness Guide integrated into the Harald Nyborg web application. Through a short and intuitive onboarding survey, users define key aspects of their household and preparedness needs. Based on this input, the system generates personalized recommendations and a structured checklist aligned with official preparedness guidelines.
The concept simplifies a complex decision-making process by combining education, personalization, and product bundling into a seamless digital journey.
Sketching & Ideation
The early ideation phase focused on mapping the core user journey from awareness to product selection. Multiple layout explorations were developed to determine how the onboarding survey and personalized checklist could be presented clearly without overwhelming the user. The sketches allowed rapid experimentation with navigation structure, hierarchy, and interaction flow.
Wireframes
Based on the initial sketches, mid-fidelity wireframes were created to define layout consistency and information architecture. The focus during this phase was on structuring the onboarding steps, clarifying the recommendation logic, and ensuring the product overview remained transparent and easy to scan.
Lo-Fi Prototype
The low-fidelity prototype enabled quick validation of the user flow and interaction logic. Testing the simplified prototype helped identify areas where additional explanation was required and ensured the survey progression felt intuitive and supportive rather than intrusive.
High-Fidelity Mockups
The final mockups translate the concept into a polished and cohesive digital experience aligned with Harald Nyborg’s visual identity. The interface emphasizes clarity, trust, and structured guidance, ensuring that users feel supported throughout the preparedness planning process.
Value Creation
By integrating personalized preparedness guidance into the digital ecosystem, Harald Nyborg can create both functional and emotional value. Customers gain clarity and confidence, while the company strengthens engagement, supports informed purchasing decisions, and differentiates itself through meaningful digital innovation.
